Nem Nuong Banh Mi

Ingredients

  • One fresh baguette cut in 2
  • 4 Saigon Gourmet Vietnamese Garlic Sausages (320 g)
  • 4 sprigs fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 English cucumber, sliced
  • 50 g carrots, peeled and julienned
  • 1 jalapeno or chili pepper, thinly sliced
  • Mayonnaise to taste
  • Preparation: 5 minutes
  • Cooking time: 6 minutes

Banh Mi is a classic Vietnamese sandwich that typically features a crispy French baguette, marinated vegetables, your choice of local meat and cilantro. It’s the ideal sandwich for a lunch-to-go or a picnic.

Preparation

  1. Cook the sausages over medium-high heat for 6 minutes or to your liking.
  2. Slice the sausages into strips.
  3. Cut open each baguette half and top with mayonnaise, carrots and cucumbers.
  4. Add the sausage strips and fresh cilantro.
  5. Top with peppers. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Note

To add variety to your cooking , replace the Nem Nuong sausages with your choice of protein: lemongrass-marinated tofu for a vegetarian option or thin slices of grilled lemongrass-marinated beef or chicken.
