General Tao’s Chicken


  • 450 g chicken breast, cut into strips
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 diced pepper
  • 1 diced onion
  • ¼ pineapple, diced
  • 1 thinly sliced green onion
  • 250 ml Saigon Gourmet Sweet-and-Sour Sauce (or Extra-Spicy Sweet-and-Sour Sauce for a spicier flavour)

General Tao’s Chicken is without a doubt the quintessential Asian-American fusion dish. The sweet and spicy notes of the ginger and sesame enhance the flavour of the crispy chicken. Serve it with rice and extra sauce for dipping!


  1. Combine the flour and the chicken strips.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over high heat and add the chicken.
  3. Cook over medium heat for 8 minutes or until golden.
  4. Add the onion, pepper and pineapple and continue cooking two more minutes.
  5. Add the Sweet-and-Sour Sauce and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes.
  6. Serve and garnish with green onions. Add salt and pepper to taste.
